KIM: HUF 35 billion innovation support programme launched

Vice President of the NRDI Office receives prestigious state award for his professional activities

The Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit was awarded to Dr László Lengyel, Vice President of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, who received the prestigious state award as a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, deputy head of the Department of Automation and Applied Informatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and university professor for his high-level work in promoting the broad utilization of IT developments and the development of meaningful cooperation between industry and higher education.

HUF 79 billion available this year for innovation projects under the John von Neumann Programme

This week Parliament adopted Hungary’s new innovation strategy, the John von Neumann Programme, which focuses on linking universities, research institutions and the economy. This programme is implemented through the Programme Strategy of the National Research, Development and Innovation (NRDI) Fund for 2023. This year, HUF 79 billion will be available under the programme to support innovative projects.

Nearly HUF 3.5 billion to support researcher recruitment in the new academic year

Nearly HUF 3.5 billion can be awarded to around 2,000 winners in the 2023 calls of the New National Excellence Programme (ÚNKP). Since 2016, the programme has provided altogether HUF 26 billion in grant funding to around 13,000 students and young researchers to achieve their goals.

Correct interpretation of the European Commission’s information message sent to Horizon project coordinators via the Funding and Tenders Portal

On 13 April, the European Commission sent an automatic notification to coordinators of ongoing projects under the Horizon research and innovation framework programme via its Funding and Tenders Portal, warning consortia that the Council Decision that excludes entities maintained by Hungarian public interest trusts from EU funding could affect the implementation of already ongoing projects.

This year’s OTKA call has been published: HUF 13.5 billion to support Hungarian research

This year, the OTKA programme will continue to support the implementation of research projects, the achievement of outstanding scientific results and the development of new methods and procedures. The total budget for the call targeting individual researchers and research teams will be HUF 13.5 billion in 2023.

Hungarian Innovation Grand Prix Awards Presented

Budapest, Friday 23 March 2024 (MTI) - The awards of the 2022 Hungarian Innovation Grand Prix were presented on Friday in the Parliament Building in Budapest. The Grand Prix for outstanding technical and economic innovation with significant business benefits was awarded to Mediso Kft. for the development of the Ultra-High Field PET-MRI medical product family.

The government set up a Horizon Europe guarantee fund to support the participation of Hungarian universities operated by public interest trust foundations in Horizon Europe projects

Hungarian higher education institutions operated by public interest trust foundations established under Hungarian Act IX of 2021 are still able to apply to the Horizon Europe research programme and participate in the implementation of the winning projects.
