Future Internet
The EU funded EARTH (Energy Aware Radio neTwork tecHnologies) research project has won the Future Internet Award of the European Union (EU) int he first half of 2012. The award was handed over at the closing event of the Future Internet Week held during the Danish EU Presidency in Aalborg on 11 May, 2012.

The fourth Future Internet Award competition is now open. This Award recognises excellence in innovation among Future Internet projects and initiatives from across Europe. The winner will receive a specially engraved Waterford crystal vase, as well as the opportunity to promote their work to a Europe-wide audience of industry, academic and public agency bodies

One of the priorities of the EU 7th R&D Framework Programme is the research of the Future Internet technology. The series of events of the Future Internet Week will focus on the actual technological, policy and socio-economic aspects of the Future Internet, and will include the following professional conferences and meetings: Future Internet Assembly/Future Internet Conference, Future Internet Forum, FIRE Concentration Day, Internet of Things Conference, ENoLL Event, and ceFIMS Workshop.

The week of 16-21 May 2011 will be devoted to future internet and high-tech innovation in Hungary where international experts will come together to discuss the economic and societal impacts of technological evolution and development trends in the EU member states. On this week Budapest will host the Future Internet Conference and Assembly and the ICT Proposers’ Day dedicated to international networking and seeking partners to form project consortia.

The ‘Future Internet Award’, supported and organised by the ceFIMS Coordination Action, is an opportunity for European national and regional Future Internet initiatives to promote their work. Initiatives can take the form of innovative products and services that will shape the Future Internet. The award will be awarded every six months to the initiative that is adjudged to have the greatest potential to advance the Future Internet and which provides an exemplar for innovate products/services.
