1. Objective of the Call
- The integrating long-term program promising in respect of the development of the nation and the national economy aims at supporting the implementation of exclusively R&D projects adapted to the thematic priorities, that contribute to the:
- increase in the competitiveness of the economy,
- achievement of technological and scientific breakthrough in a given field,
- concentration of material and intellectual resources,
- implementation of task- and utilization-oriented, focused research –and development by meeting the necessary staff requirements,
- establishing the harmony between the basic- and applied research projects and the technologic development projects,
- strengthening of the co-operation between the domestic research- and development workshops and the economy,
- involvement of young professionals (PhD researchers and post doctors) to the research activity and encourage them to pursue their careers in the sciences at the new knowledge-intensive workplaces; promotion of the mobility of researchers and encouraging the repatriation of successful Hungarian researchers living abroad.
Ányos Jedlik programme will provide funding for research and development projects in the following areas of thematic and horizontal sub-programmes
Sub-programme No. 1: Life sciences
Sub-programme No. 2: Information and Communication Technologies
Sub-programme No. 3: Environmental Protection
Sub-programme No. 4: Agricultural economy and Biotechnology
Sub-programme No. 5: Materials Science
Sub-programme No. 6: Social Challenges of Technological Changes; Studies, Analyses, Concepts
Implementation of the Objectives
Supporting projects oriented toward the elaboration and demonstration of new materials, products, means procedures, technologies and services that represent scientific achievements of international level and significant intellectual added value, that are implemented within the scope of co-operation between enterprises and budget-financed research workshops.
2. Activities eligible to be supported
Ányos Jedlik Programme supports research and development projects, which range form the basic research to experimental development. Eligible activities are: basic research, applied research and experimental development, under the reservation that basic research activities shall only receive funding together with related applied research activities.
The costs of the different types of activities should remain within the following percentage limits of the total project cost:
basic research: max.30 %
applied research: min. 50 – max. 100%
experimental development: max. 50%
3. Eligible Applicants
Under Sub-programmes 1-5 of this call any enterprise settled in Hungary, with or without legal entity, any budget-financed body or institution, or any non-profit organization with legal entity shall be eligible for funding in the form of research consortia created to carry out R&D projects (hereinafter referred to as “consortium” or “consortia”).
A maximum of 8 members may participate in a consortium. During evaluation, priority shall be given to proposals submitted by enterprise-led consortia.
Under Sub-programme 6 of this call, the same organisations shall be eligible. However forming a consortium and involving enterprises is not compulsory.
Organizations registered abroad may also become member of the consortium, they, however, shall not be eligible for funding under the programme, neither can they become the leaders of eligible projects.
4. Financing
The National Office for Research and Technology provides 11 billion HUF from the Research and Technology Innovation Fund.
5. Form of project funding, duration of the project
The form of subsidy is: final grant with no repayment obligation.
The duration of the project to be realized is minimum 1, maximum 3 years.
6. Expected number of projects
The expected number of funded projects is: 30-50
7. Evaluation and Selection Criteria
- Conformity of the project-proposal with the objectives of the program and the priorities of the given sub-program
- Professional, scientific and technological novelty of the project-proposal
- Feasibility of the project-proposal; coherence of its partial tasks, their scheduling and controllability
- Financial plan of the project proposal, the reasonability of costs
- Competence of participants (including the human resources mobility necessary for implementation), number of research posts created (PhD students, postdoc positions, repatriating researchers – only in sub-programmes 1-5)
- Availability of management; priority shall be provided for consortia led by enterprises during evaluation.
- Economic and social exploitation of results in terms of Hungarian and international measures
- The impact of the project-proposal to the development of a given field at domestic and international levels.
