COST general informations

COST is an intergovernmental framework for international co-operation in national research activities in Europe. COST creates scientific networks and enables scientists to collaborate in a wide spectrum of activities in research and technology. COST actions consist of basic and pre-competitive research for peaceful purposes as well as for activities of public utility. Scientists propose the new actions, which makes COST a field for new and emerging topics. The concept of COST meets the growing demand for international co-operation, multidisciplinary research, complements the European Union Community Programmes and forms an important element in the European Research Area. COST has developed into one of the largest frameworks for research co-operation in Europe and involves nearly 30000 scientists.

The Hungarian COST Secretariat

The Hungarian COST Secretariat in the National Office for Research and Technology is responsible for the management and administration of the Hungarian COST activity. The National Office for Research and Technology nominates the Hungarian delegates to different Committees, represents Hungary in the Committee of Senior Officials. The national co-ordinator promotes the possibilities offered by COST in his or her country and keeps contacts with the scientists and with the Commission and the Council COST Secretariat.
